Gift Shop/Events Manager

Full-Time

Position Overview

Full-time Position (40 hours weekly)

Tuesday – Saturday

9 AM – 5 or 6 PM (depending on season)

Hourly compensation

 

The Gift Shop & Events Manager is responsible for customer service and staff management, ensuring our guests have a quality visitor experience. This is an active, hands-on role that performs all levels of work as well as managing and training others.

 

Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Provide customer service to visitors at register, throughout the facility and via phone

Manage gift shop and exhibit staff (5-10 people depending on the season)

Train gift shop and exhibit staff

Prepare and managing schedules for staff

Prepare daily deposits for delivery to the bank

Order and stock merchandise for gift shop

Manage inventory including inventory audits

Research and propose new merchandise to add to the gift shop

Clean the facility and grounds, manage others to help complete this work

Coordinate break and lunch cover for staff

Communicate with customers about events in person, via phone and via email

Book events and collect payments

Provide customer service during events and coordinate staff and activities for all booked events

Track event attendance and revenue for reporting purposes

 

Requirements

Ability to work weekends and after hours as required for events

 

Work Environment

This role works inside our facility as well as outside in the garden area. Candidate must be able and willing to work in all weather conditions.

 

Preferred Skills

2-5 years managing staff

Retail experience a plus

Experience with ShopKeep a plus

Experience with Google sheets or excel a plus

Frequent bending & stooping

Frequent lifting (medium) up to 50 pounds

Frequent keyboard work (at register or on computer)

Part-Time

Part-time Position (24 hours weekly)

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday

9 AM – 5 or 6 PM (depending on season)

Hourly compensation

 

The Gift Shop/Exhibit position is responsible for customer service and exhibit supervision, ensuring our guests have a quality visitor experience. This is an active, hands-on role that will split time between the gift shop and our exhibit areas.

 

Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Provide customer service to visitors at register, throughout the facility and via phone

Help stock merchandise for gift shop

Help clean the facility and grounds as instructed by management

Supervise exhibits to ensure the safety of the guests and animals

Sell drinks or food cups at exhibits

 

Requirements

Positive attitude and willingness to learn!

Ability to work Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
