Position Overview

Part-time Position (24 hours weekly)

Flexible schedule, must be able to work weekends as needed

9 AM – 5 or 6 PM (depending on season)

The Gift Shop/Exhibit position is responsible for customer service and exhibit supervision, ensuring our guests have a quality visitor experience. This is an active, hands-on role that will split time between the gift shop and our exhibit areas.

 

Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Provide customer service to visitors at register, throughout the facility and via phone

Help stock merchandise for gift shop

Help clean the facility and grounds as instructed by management

Supervise exhibits to ensure the safety of the guests and animals

Sell drinks or food cups at exhibits

 

Requirements

Positive attitude and willingness to learn!

Ability to work weekends as needed

 

Work Environment

This role works inside our facility as well as outside in the garden area. Candidate must be able and willing to work in all weather conditions.

 

Preferred Skills

Retail experience a plus

Experience with ShopKeep a plus

Biologist

Under leadership of the Biology Managers, this role is responsible for the overall health, appearance, maintenance and cleanliness of the exhibits and animal collection.

 

Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Adhere to routine tasks performed daily

Handling live animals, following all established protocols, always using caution and executing safety precautions when needed.

Learning and understanding health requirements of the animals within our care

  • Including normal disposition, habits, dietary requirements, water quality needs and habits

  • Disease recognition and treatment

Learning and understanding the biological and mechanical filtration and all life support systems for each exhibit

  • Maintenance of these systems

Cleaning of the exhibits, inside & out, and behind the scenes

Perform water changes when needed

Intake of animals from transports and shipments

Carry out quarantine protocols when needed

Testing and understanding water quality of all exhibits and water holding

Food preparation and feeding for all animals

Performing feed shows and informative talks when needed

Maintaining record keeping where needed

Other duties as assigned
